Blue Book, Port Phillip District of New South Wales, 1837 – Commissioners of Crown Lands

Comments

After a brief visit to Melbourne with Governor Richard Bourke in March 1837, Robert Hoddle moved to Port Phillip in May 1837 to take up the role of Surveyor. Like his subordinates, Robert Russell and Frederick Robert D’Arcy, Hoddle was appointed a Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Colony of New South Wales.
The NSW Blue Book 1837 notes that Russell and D’Arcy resigned as surveyors on 13 August 1837 and 30 September 1837, respectively. The NSW Blue Book 1838, however, notes that D’Arcy was “discontinued” on 31 January 1838.
