01 Bernard Burke; A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry of Ireland; Harrison and Sons, London, 1912, p 223.
02 I have sourced his three names from his probate records, but it is sometimes recorded as Jeremy instead of Jeremiah. He was born "Ffrench" and buried as "Ffrench", but he often used "French" during his lifetime. Burke does have Ffrench's wife's surname as "Walton" and his birth as 1810. His brother Patrick Digby was born in 1810.
03 A primary source for the date is needed.
04 This is the earliest I have found so far, but when did he arrive in Van Diemen's Land?
