01⇑ | Simpson was said to be 65 when died in 1857. Most secondary sources say that he was born c1790/1792 in England. Anne Marsden (see Further Reading) states that he was the son of James Simpson, surgeon, and had a brother, Henry Winckworth Simpson. If she is correct, he was James Warne Simpson. There is another baptism record for James Warne Simpson, born 21 February 1790, baptised 9 April 1790, at the same church and with the same parents, so probably an earlier brother who died. |
