03 I originally had him baptised at St James's Paddington, but that church was not built until 1841. Until then, St Mary on Paddington Green was the parish church.

05 Arrived before February 1854, when he was appointed a Gold Commissioner. Thompson had initially departed England on the Melbourne, leaving London on 15 October 1852. The Melbourne had mechanical trouble during the early part of the voyage and many passengers, including Thompson, returned to England on another ship from Lisbon. Edward Dickson Le Couteur was also on the Melbourne, but continued to Victoria.

This article reports that Thompson's body was moved to Maryborough on the 9th for interment the following day. Thompson's death certificate says that he was buried at Inglewood on the 8th. Neither Maryborough Cemetery nor Inglewood Cemetery has a record.
